The Ultimate Jackson Hole Experience: Best Lodges, Activities, and Attractions

Are you thinking about visiting Jackson Hole? You’re very fortunate! This corner of the earth in magnificent Wyoming has much to offer, no matter the season. Here’s our comprehensive Jackson Hole guide to the best places to stay and play in and around the Grand Tetons.

This place beckons as an outdoor lover’s paradise, whether snow skiing or on summer vacation! There is so much to do here that completing it all would be impossible. So, to make the most of your short time, read our guide to the most remarkable sites in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the surrounding area of Grand Teton National Park.

Where to Stay

Lodging is one of the essential parts of traveling. There are a lot of different kinds of Jackson Hole vacation rentals to stay at, like luxury hotels, modern motels, farms, and lodges in national parks. It has many high-end hotels that offer amenities like spas, fine dining, and beautiful views of the mountains. These hotels often have luxurious rooms with high-quality bedding, luxurious bathrooms, and other amenities.

White Buffalo Club

The White Buffalo Club is an expensive, rustic hotel with great decor, like colorful buffalos hanging on the walls. There are single king rooms and suites with one to three bedrooms, big kitchens, horseshoe bars, and flat-screen TVs.

The White Buffalo Club’s prime site, three blocks from Town Square, and free parking are two of its best features. Surely, the benefits are worth the money.

Mountain Modern Motel

Mountain Modern has a strong Jackson Hole theme. There are maps on the walls and a word search chalkboard with the names of Jackson Hole sites and animals. This Jackson Hole luxury cabin’s red accents and black-and-white color scheme give it a modern feel.

Mountain Modern is one of those Jackson Hole luxury lodgings that calls itself a base camp for adventures in Jackson Hole. It has plenty of room for all your gear. It’s right in the middle of everything, just three blocks from the town square.

Goosewing Ranch

Try Goosewing Ranch in Kelly, Wyoming, if you want to stay at a guy ranch, even though it’s a bit out of the way from Jackson (about an hour), which makes it so charming. This dude ranch is the best because it is next to the Gros Ventre River.

Goosewing met all of our needs. It had great views of the Grand Tetons, and you can use the utility terrain vehicle (UTV) with each cabin to explore this vast site.

Or, for a twist, the ranch has a “glamping” site where people sleep in covered wagons and have a cook and wrangler all to themselves.

Things to Do

Jackson Hole is a dream for people who love nature. We were lucky to go this summer when the weather and scenery were at their best. But even more important is that you MUST book events and trips ahead of time to get the best ones. Here are our ideas.

Grand Teton Wildlife Tour

BrushBuck Wildlife Tours offers special wildlife tours in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Their Grand Teton Dawn or Dusk Half-Day Tours are four-hour trips mostly about watching wildlife. BrushBuck is also a company that is 100% run by military veterans.

Some of the best parts were seeing moose and elk, Moulton Barn at sunset, and almost seeing a wolf. This tour is a better way to learn about and know Grand Teton, National Park.

We will learn much more about the history, wildlife, and area of the national park than we would have if we had just gone through it on our own.

Whitewater Rafting

This is the best way to spend a warm day outside in the West. This trip is about making memories and learning to appreciate nature and the scenery around the Snake River.

From Big Kahuna and Lunch Counter rapids to “riding the bull” in front of the raft, whitewater rafting on the Snake River will excite you.

Jackson Hole Rodeo

Gather your friends and attend the Jackson Hole Rodeo. From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, the rodeo is held on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and most Fridays in July and August. There will be barrel racing, calf roping, bull riding, wild riding horses, and stripped bronc riding.

Bring no bags or coolers to the rodeo. You are not permitted to bring food or beverages. In addition, because the rodeo takes place rain or shine, bring rain gear if it appears as if it could rain.

Top Attractions

Here is a complete list of all the best things to see and do in Jackson Hole and the Tetons that you shouldn’t miss, no matter what time of year you go.

Yellowstone National Park

The park is known for its volcanic features. It has the most active geysers in the world, with Old Faithful being the most well-known. In contrast to these hissing moonscapes, there are

substantial green slopes, towering waterfalls, red-walled canyons, rivers, and huge lakes.

Wildlife is abundant. In these pristine environments, many different kinds of animals exist, such as grizzly bears, gray wolves, bison, black bears, and elk.

The best way to see the park is on one of the many hiking trails, but tourists can also drive the Grand Loop, a 142-mile road that winds through the park and has beautiful views.

Jackson Town Square and the Elk Antler Arch

The Town Square is a great place to start a tour of Jackson’s best-known sights. Tourists love to take pictures of themselves standing under the famous arches made of elk antlers or skating around the small ice rink.

From the square, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride around town in the style of the Old West, or you can walk along the boardwalks lined with shops and art galleries.

Take advantage of the Images of Nature by Thomas Mangelsen gallery to take pictures of nature and landscapes. It’s a great place to get some new ideas.

Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park is one of the finest and most breathtaking mountain wilderness places in the world.

When people visit Jackson Hole for the first time, they are often amazed by the rocky peaks of the tall Teton Mountain Range in the park. At more than 13,770 feet, Grand Teton is the tallest peak.

If you fly into the region on a commercial flight, you’ll stop at Jackson Hole Airport in Grand Teton National Park. This is one of the few airports inside a national park.

Antelope Flats and Mormon Row Historic District

Get ready to use your cameras. Along this drive, you’ll see beautiful views of the Gros Ventre Mountains, the Teton Range, and the charmingly rustic homesteads of the Mormon Row Historic District. You might have seen them in handouts about Jackson Hole.

It’s also common to see wildlife. This 640-acre piece of forest protects important places for animals to live and move.

You can see moose, bison, elk, badgers, coyotes, foxes, and many different birds, as well as the pronghorn antelope, which gives the place its name.
